The Dogs

  Home

These are our dogs, Wishbone (born Feb. '01) and Xannie (born Oct. '00).  They are Italian Greyhounds (aka IG's), a much smaller version of the racing Greyhounds.  This is an exceptionally friendly breed.  They bring us lots of joy.

Xannie (with the all tan face) came from the Italian Greyhound Rescue of Texas (that's Xannie and another dog named Bullet on their main webpage).  Her original name was Sandy, but Karen Baird (a wonderful lady from the IG Rescue) renamed her as a shortened version of Xannax, the anti-anxiety medicine.  Believe me, the name fits.  We think she may be part stuffed animal.

Wishbone (aka "Cletus," the one with the white on his face) is a "little" more energetic and loves to spend his afternoons chasing squirrels.

The last 4 pictures are from Heartland Nursing home, where we visit once a month.  We had Wishbone and Xannie certified as "therapy pets" with a multi-denominational organization called "Critters for Christ."  The residents love to see the dogs, and it makes a great ice-breaker for us and the girls to visit with them.
