2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

The deepest longing of your heart is for one person and one place. Jesus is that person. Heaven is that place.  Randy Alcorn, In Light of Eternity

If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.  C.S. Lewis

I judge all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity. John Wesley

It ought to be the business of every day to prepare for our last day. Matthew Henry

Fact: Each of us will spend eternity somewhere.

There are so many unfortunate stereotypes about heaven - that it is boring, that we sit around on clouds and play harps, that it is one interminable church service, etc.  These concepts are profoundly un-Biblical.  If Heaven is boring, then God must be boring.  And if you look around at His creation, you will see that God is anything but boring.  Heaven, by definition, will be far superior to this life.  It will have all of the good - and more! - with none of the sin.

The main purpose of this page is to convince you to read "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn.  For Christians, this is a must read because much of this life is spent preparing for the next life.  For non-Christians, you should read it to see what you may be missing.

Suggested reading

Randy Alcorn has written two non-fiction books on Heaven and works the theme of Heaven remarkably well into his fiction.  I highly recommend any of his work, but especially he following:

  • In Light of Eternity - A small, easy to read book.
  • Heaven Also known as, "The big book of Heaven."  Everyone should read this book.  It is very thorough and enlightening.  They Bible says much more about Heaven than most people realize.
  • Deadline - fiction - one of my favorite books.
